Cannabis use among students is an important health topic. On average, students reported trying cannabis for the first time at about 14 years old.
The most common ways students used cannabis were vaping liquid cannabis (9%), smoking cannabis (8%), and vaping dried cannabis (5%).

Many students said cannabis was easy to access. About 49% of students reported that cannabis was fairly or very easy to get. Students who used cannabis most often got it by sharing with a group of friends, getting it from a friend or family member, or getting it from someone else.
Some students reported using cannabis regularly. About 4% of students used cannabis most days in the past 30 days. Cannabis use can also create safety risks. Some students drove after using cannabis, and others were passengers in vehicles with someone who had recently used cannabis.
Many students did not believe regular cannabis use was harmful. About 1 in 5 students thought smoking or vaping cannabis regularly had little or no risk. Older students, especially those in Grade 12, were more likely to think regular cannabis use was not harmful compared to younger students. Education about the risks of cannabis use can help youth make safer choices.
It is safest not to use alcohol during pregnancy.
